Review from hometheaterhifi.com

...Being a writer in this industry has its perks, especially getting to play with lots of new stuff, but it also has its drawbacks.... Home Theater technology changes all the time, and it is up to me to stay current and explore the differences.... I was one of the first people to own the Anthem Statement D1 that Brian Florian glowingly praised in a review here at Secrets.... This upgrade would be a hardware addition to existing D1s, or consumers could just buy a D1 with the upgrade already installed.... What Anthem did bring to the market outshined what I thought the D1 upgrade would actually include...»read full review

(06/01/2008)...In fact, our wives would think we needed to live in padded rooms just for making the suggestion.... Newer players, like Neptune Audio, that just came out on the market have very cool 7.1-channel room correction systems for less money.... The NRC did extensive research to find the best in-room target response. The point of this research was to optimize frequency response, taking take human hearing into account.... The ARC system makes independent calculations for each and every speaker in the system, setting crossover points, output levels and room correction parameters.... To handle all these corrections, Anthem employs Super-EfficientInfinite Impulse Response filters to minimize potential delays andreduce processing gain noise to inaudible levels...»read full review

(12/01/2006)... With surprisingly good sound, at a price lower than you might expect from the big boys, Anthem quickly became the value leader in the home theater industry.... They both are five-and-seven-eighths inches tall by 17-and-a-quarter inches wide by 15-and-one-quarter inches deep.... A burly 14-awg steel chassis adds protection and heat dissipation for all the elaborate electronics contained within.... Bright blue indicator LEDs and the two line blue vacuum-fluorescent displays are strikingly similar to those familiar with the D1.... The D2 gained about three pounds over the D1 to reach 27 pounds...»read full review

(09/21/2009)...Okay, so the name doesn't quite do the update justice, but then again, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.... However, having lived with the D2v now for a few weeks, I'm beginning to wonder if Anthem didn't overdo it just a bit.... The notable new additions to the D2v include eight HDMI 1.3c inputs and two parallel HDMI 1.... Also, the D2v's HDMI inputs are capable of accepting 7.... I could go on indefinitely about every little detail and feature Anthem has managed to shoehorn into the D2v, but I would have to break this review into chapters to do so...»read full review

(10/12/2008)...Its flexibility and amazing sound have won over countless reviewers and consumers alike.... It may just be the only currently available integrated video processor to perform this task.... The ARC is a huge step forward for this exceptional processor and makes what has been one of the best available significantly better. Anthem really did the room correction right on this piece.... The Anthem Statement processor offers all most will ever need from an AV preamp. It offers four HDMI inputs and one HDMI output, plus 10 channels of assignable balanced and single-ended outputs, a 5.... Video inputs are covered nicely with composite, S-Video and component inputs and outputs. All these features are packed into a beautiful black case that comes in free-standing or rack-mount versions...»read full review

(08/19/2008)...Press releases, of course, always paint products in glowing terms. The real proof comes in seeing how components perform under real-world conditions.... Even before it is fired up, the Statement D2 gives strong visual cues that let you know people who care about craftsmanship have built it.... Likewise, the D2 provides an elaborate sub-menu to help you identify and then filter out the main low-frequency resonance peak of your room. The list of detail touches such as these goes on and on.... Once set up, however, the D2 is quite easy to operate for both novices and veterans alike.... In practice, this means you can plug in virtually any video component, from old-school VCRs to the latest HD DVD or Blu-ray disc players and expect to see image quality improvements. And you do...»read full review

(05/31/2008)...A Gennum VXP digital-video processor, one of the current hot-rods of the DSP world, powers the D2's broadcast-quality video.... A series of tones sweeps each speaker, followed by pauses for data storage and analysis.... After the first measurement, the precise positions of the others don't matter much, as it's the differential data that fuels the mathematical room analysis.... The results with my speakers and room setup were similar as well, negating mild bumps at around 50, 200, and 500 Hz and smoothing a bit of peaky response through the 2- to 8-kHz octaves.... With a less accurate room, I'd expect the Anthem's corrections to be more dramatic...»read full review

...The AVM models had levels of flexibility, build, and sound quality that had previously been unheard of at their prices.... And so the Anthem Statement line was born. The familial resemblance of the AVM and Statement processors is no accident.... Those of us who know Anthem have known that a video processor was in the works for some time. Well, it was worth the wait.... This is where a true high-end video processor, such as the Gennum VXP-based one in the D2, comes into play.... As with the AVM processors, setting up the Statement D2 for optimal performance can be a very involved and time-consuming process...»read full review

(06/09/2009)...These numbers are not to be sneezed at. The inputs stage has balanced and single-ended options, using XLR and phono socketry.... I found myself constantly stumbling over which button to press and when. Processing power The D2V processor, a 7.... It will upscale to 1080p from virtually any source...»read full review
