Review from hometheaterhifi.com

... The features were so numerous that Secrets set a new precedent for SSP reviews.... It would be almost two years ago now that Anthem first spoke of a subsequent product.... Serenity now. The D1 Design For the record, the D1 is ever so similar to its predecessor in terms of the back panel...»read full review

Review from avrev.com

(11/01/2004)...At the extreme opposite end of the spectrum are the manufacturers who design and offer components without cost as a primary concern.... They have earned a reputation for excellent sonics at relatively affordable price points positioned well below the absolute high end.... The Statement component line is designed to compete toe-to-toe with anything else on the market, regardless of price. In fact, Anthem welcomes direct comparisons.... DescriptionAlthough the Statement D1 is built on the same platform as the proven, well-regarded AVM20, this is where the similarity ends, according to Anthem.... The Anthem D1 is an extremely versatile and sophisticated component that therefore warrants a lengthy description to represent the multitude of features and functions...»read full review

Review from hometheaterreview.com

(02/15/2005)... After the critical success of the AVM20 processor and its associated amplifiers, Anthem decided to go upmarket as it expanded its line.... Unique Features The Statement D1 is a truly handsome piece.... The green display of the AVM20 has been replaced by a very nice, large, bluish-white vacuum tube display, and the green lights have been replaced by the much more chic blue ones.... As with the AVM20, the processor is fully hardware and software upgradeable, with one of the first software upgrades for Pro Logic IIx, which allows for 7.1 processing from two channels.... (05/22/2005)...The competition is fierce, with those mega-corporations using their marketing clout, engineering expertise, and production efficiency to built better products, but smaller companies can still compete.... Anthem was spun off several years ago from high-end audio company Sonic Frontiers, after the latter was acquired by Canadian speaker manufacturer Paradigm.... Anthem continues to produce cutting-edge designs. Their flagship pre-pro and multichannel power amp, the Statement D1 and Statement P5, can compete head on with anyone's best.... Anthem makes a similarly designed 2-channel amp, the P2, that weighs a comparatively svelte 75 pounds and can be added to the P5 if you plan on a 7.1-channel system.... The front panel of the P5 sports only a power switch and six blue LED indicator lights, one for the amp as a whole and one each for the channels...»read full review

Review from audioholics.com

(07/23/2009)... Audioholics forums alone has experienced a good deal of activity about the Statement D1 with some even comparing it to the latest high end receivers and processors.... The Anthem D1 SSP has just hit the market and already there's a v1.02 software update indicating that Anthem is being very pro-active in solving some of the initial software issues.... Digital Architecture The Digital Architecture of the new Anthem Statement D1 is comprised of the latest ADC, DAC and Processor technology as illustrated in the following table.... There is a slot for it located on the back panel but at this time the connection is missing. Upon speaking to Anthem they have plans on activating this interface soon...»read full review

Review from hometheatersound.com

...Their original MCA series of power amplifiers has gone through two upgrades, and is now joined by the less-expensive PVA amplifiers.... These components were designed, according to Anthem, to produce reference-quality sound at reasonable prices.... This allows DSP, including bass management and time delays, to be applied to the analog outputs of DVD-Audio and SACD players.... The four-layer motherboard features extensive use of power and ground planes that are said to reduce impedance, noise, and interference.... The D1 provides adjustments for every conceivable surround-sound parameter, and a few not found in most other processors...»read full review
